Our ethos lays in encouraging self awareness, movement and its teaching from a place of feeling with an emphasis on personal enquiry.

We offer a series of dedicated Yoga training modules to compliment our 200 hour intensive, ‘The Immersion’ with the following intention:

Module 1 Vitality & The Spine

Theme

  • Awareness and functionality of the spine and its role within overall health.
  • The spine and its relationship to the rest of the body and overall health.
  • Breathing exercises that awaken the intelligence of the spine.
  • Physical, emotional and energetic qualities of the internal organs.

  • Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar)
  • Somatic exploration
  • Sequences for spinal release and decompression

Breath

  • Internal organ awareness and cleansing
  • Holographic breath
  • Ovarian & Testicular breathing

Enquiry & Meditation

  • Recapitulation – mapping injuries to the spine, back and neck.

Module 2 The Wave, Headstand & Sequencing

Theme

  • Experiencing waveform and its effect on movement and health
  • Sensing the fluid body: moving beyond the idea of the body as a solid structure and appreciating its fluid interconnection.
  • Rehabilitation and injury prevention for the hip, lower back and shoulder girdle.

  • Sequences for experiencing the health benefits of waveform
  • Variations on head-stand, shoulder-stand and elbow dog with the focus on safety and alignment
  • Downward dog as a framework exploring the body-mind’s relationship with gravity
  • Spontaneous movement: revealing the song of the body

Breath

  • Extended Kapalabhati
  • Chakra toning

  • Relating to injuries in self and others

Module 3 A Seated Practice

Theme

  • Sensing the bones and joints: moving from an awareness of the skeletal body
  • Exploring ways to find comfort and ease in sitting
  • Creating the conditions for a buoyant and free spine in seated meditation
  • Prevention of injuries to the joints

Content

Movement

  • In depth exploration of seated postures
  • Sequences to develop an inspiring flow of seat postures
  • Learn effective adjustment and the art of intuitive hands-on guidance

Breath

  • Fusion Breath: Development of the Tibetan Purification breath and accompanying mudra
  • Bone breathing

Enquiry

  • Mapping injuries to bones and joints

Module 4 The Spine in Extension: Back-bending

Theme

  • Creating the conditions for safe and healthy back-bending
  • Exploring the effects of back-bending in movement practice
  • Focusing on the non-doing of the breath as a gateway to feeling connected with nature and existence

Content

Movement

  • Exploring back-bending through various asana – standing, bridge, laying down etc.
  • Mobilisations to help free the spine for back-bending

Breath

  • Kumbhaka – exploring the pause in the breath
  • Non-doing breath

Enquiry

  • Map any habits / tendencies where ‘doing’ is automatic, e.g: ‘Pulling’ or ‘taking’ the inhalation, locking the knees etc.

Module 5 A Warrior's Balance

Theme

  • Looking at how functional legs and feet are beneficial for health
  • Exploring ways to bring strength and flexibility of the legs
  • Creating safe, grounded conditions for power practices: Raising the fire from a strong root.
  • An enquiring to bandhas and their role in health and functionality

Content

Movement

  • Standing postures
  • Sequencing of standing postures
  • Mobilisations and strengthening exercises for the legs and gluteus

Breath

  • Bastrika – Bellows breath
  • Alternate nostril breath

Enquiry

  • Mapping accident and injury from over-ambition.
