THE YOGA

Our Approach

Influenced by the late Vanda Scaravelli and the currently alive and thriving Angela Farmer, our approach to yoga is primarily guided by the felt sense in that we continually respond to stimuli for example, gravity. Awareness for the interconnection of the ground, breath and the intrinsic fluid aspects of the body such as the spine, fascia, the musco-skeletal network and internal organs continually inform the practice.

Referencing nature, flora & fauna where possible, we encourage action occuring in the form of natural circular, spirallic and fluid movement. Breath infuses movement with a quality of attention while movement animates the breath appropriately, creating a continuous conversation from the inside with the space around.

We will explore primal movement and flow sequences, expressed through reconnecting to our natural movement patterns.

The roots of Yoga are found in the wonder and beauty of nature.  An attitude of playfulness, enthusiasm, creativity, exploration and imagination are encouraged - embracing potential for the living joy of inhabiting the body.

COMPLIMENTARY ASPECTS

Strength & Flexibility = Mobility

We include a contemporary scientific understanding of the body in our immersion which acknowledges the balance and integration of flexibility, stability and mobility.

During the course you will be receiving individual assessments regarding the patterns of tension within your body. Then you will be given appropriate exercises to release and to reintegrate optimal motor control patterns.

Qigong & Tai Chi

Vanda Scaravelli was a lover of cross-disciplinary fusion ... and so are we.

Her practice of Qigong and Tai Chi in addition to yoga mirrors our own fondness for the combined practice and the complementary principles found in The Tao.

How we wish to inspire you

Our aim is to enable you to connect to new insights and inspiration from a place of knowledge and intuition. This will inform your own practice and enable you to share with others.

Creation of your own movement and breath patterns in the form of sequencing asana and mobilisation enhances the foundation of your personal practice, whether the mood is external and outwardly dynamic or within relative stillness.

Individual sessions offered by the team will be:

Bodywork sessions:

We will investigate your individual patterns of pain and discomfort, as well as your breathing and core functionality.

Janzu, a form of Watsu and water dance, with guided and held movement in water to embrace the fluid expression of the body.

Energetic sessions:

Sound healing (sonic acupuncture) sessions and sound baths.

Individualised Qi Gong and Yoga sessions.

Coaching sessions:

Focused mentoring for specific areas according to your needs and wishes.

“I participated in the Immersion in 2019. I thank the YHM for this wonderful and unique experience. I felt free, happy, inspired, supported and thus learned tons… at a deeper level than “just intellect”.

My yoga practice radically changed : I now truly do yoga because I enjoy it whilst I’m doing it, not only just benefitting from effects after …. Yoga now is effortless as opposed to me before trying to squeeze my body into shapes. It’s the best part of the day when “I’m going home” to exploring my inner state. It’s almost hypnotic, giving me a strong sensation of being happy about being alive, healthy, safe and powerful.

It was seriously a life changing experience on how I view and feel my body and health! I wish I could do it again!.”

PHYSIOLOGY IN MOTION

The knowledge and practical application of anatomy and physiology are given in the context of identifying function and dysfunction of the body while in movement and at rest, which are presented in a practical and playful workshop environment.

Modules we will cover:

  • An introduction and grounding in Yoga therapeutics from a motor control perspective to help correct and improve movement patterns with hands-on muscle testing, physical rehabilitation protocols, analysing of movement patterns and practical solutions for improving basic movement to prevent or improve pain and discomfort.

  • The function of the internal organs from the Qigong therapeutic perspective, incorporating the physical, psychological and energetic correspondences in addition to the endocrine and lymphatic correlation to health and vitality.

  • Practical applications involving the sensing and revitalisation of the internal organs and glands in the body, enhancing connection and intimacy through breath and movement to help enhance their functionality.

  • Enabling yourself & other’s to learn through enjoyment, whilst sharing the concepts and techniques that you have embodied.

PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY

Drawing on various sources such as Advaita Vedanta, Toltec teachings & The Tao, our focus is to help develop your own philosophy by providing simple enquiries into the nature of Self from a non dual perspective. This will include simple daily meditations and guided explorations and hikes in nature and to the local hot springs.
